The Jaufenspitz

How to get there: The approach is via St. Leonhard along the Jaufenpass road. Free parking is available directly at the pass, in front of the Edelweishütte. This is the starting point of our small summit tour.

Route: Directly from the car park on the Jaufenspitze, follow the signs for Jaufenspitze No. 17A along a ridge to the south up into a hermitage to the left (east) of the Jaufenpass. Left to the east, crossing somewhat steeper slopes, upwards onto a broad ridge. Briefly flatter, soon rising again a little, upwards in serpentines on the broad north-west ridge. Descend briefly into a saddle and onto a narrow ridge to the summit. Ascend over rock slabs with wire rope protection, cross diagonally into the west flank and over rubble and scree onto the summit ridge and almost flat along the narrow ridge northwards to the summit cross.

  • Altitude difference: 350 m
  • Walking time: approx. 2.5 hours
  • Distance: 4.3 km

Summary: The favourite tour of the Passeir people at sunrise. We only recommend it if you have already done the trail in daylight. You can easily get lost and should be sure-footed.
