Our top ten to cool down
There are plenty of hot days in South Tyrol. To help you keep a "cool head", we have prepared some tips. In and around the Torgglerhof, of course. Because both are beautiful.
1. the shady weeping willow
Right in the middle. Exactly fitting! Sepp gave this weeping willow, which gives our farm a very special atmosphere, to his Mali as a wedding present. From a dainty little tree to a shady icon :-) There is always a little breeze blowing under it and the best combination: a refreshing Joro Spritz or an apple mountain herb iced tea from the Torgglerhof.
- Funfact:
A "weeping willow" for a wedding is a bit weird. Sepp`s answer; I honestly understood "Augenweide". And he wasn`t completely wrong ;-)
2. Waterfall of Kalmtal
The Passeir waterfall, with its 48 m drop, is beautifully situated at the entrance to the romantic Kalmtal. This is where sun worshippers and those seeking relaxation meet and make themselves comfortable on the large boulders. It is best to combine it with a casual bike tour.
3. Kneipp in the Passer
Best feeling? Barefoot in the meadow... yes, exactly... and even better? Barefoot in the river - so pubic. An amazing refreshment! Good that the Passer is not far from the hotel. Information on hidden places is available at the reception.
4. Ice, Ice baby!
"Hisig". This means something like: local; native; originating from here.... And it is from the small ice cream shop in Sterzing where we get our ice cream. Not only the children love it, but also the adults. Super, delicious sundaes with fresh fruit, Smarties oooor the pure ice cream. Our Hiesig ice cream defies the heat, because it doesn't have time to melt, it's gone so quickly ;-)
5. Up in the mountains
The best way to escape the record-breaking temperatures - is to go to the mountains. How lucky we are. Just a few minutes away by car, we go up to the Timmelsjoch, the place where the summer resort was invented...;-) And we have some really good hiking suggestions.
6. Pool
Ready, set, go...Pooooooooool! Just jump into the fresh water and cool down while waiting for the ice cream sundae that has just been ordered via our Orderando app. Delightful!
7. Passirio gorge
If you don't necessarily want to go up, why not follow the gorge? Water shapes the valley, that's how you could describe this varied hike. Plenty of shade and the cool water is always a faithful companion. Oh, you beautiful Val Passiria, how diverse you are.
8. Canyoning
oooor rafting?! Actively enjoying the summer...while sweating into a sweat!
- Canyoning: Mountain guide Daniel Mairginter
- Rafting: South Tyrol Rafting
9. sunrise hike
Early in the morning, before the sun brings us the heat, we take advantage of the height to hike to the Flecknerspitze. A unique experience. The guided hike is offered once a week from June to September.
10. passer terraces
If you don't want to miss out Merano even when the temperatures are warm, you don't have to. Because right in the centre, next to the Merano Thermal Baths, you will find the newly created Passer terraces. Green terraces with direct access to the Passer. Ideal for cooling off between shopping marathons...;-)
