Hike to the Eishof in Val di Fosse
Directions: From the Passeier Valley to Merano in the beautiful Vinschgau Valley. Shortly after Naturns into the Schnals Valley as far as Karthaus, then into the Pfossental Valley as far as Vorderkaser. (chargeable car park)
Route: From Vorderkaser (1693 m) on the wide, unpaved goods path (marked 39), which mostly follows the old valley path, mostly only moderately ascending through larch stands into the valley to the former Mitterkaser farm (1954, snack station, but Vorderkaser 1:00 hrs. m), through meadow slopes level to slightly ascending briefly further to the former Rableidhof and in a pretty hike almost level further into the valley to the Eishof (2070 m, restaurant, from Vorderkaser 1:45 hrs.). Return to Vorderkaser on the same route, 1:30 hrs.

Conclusion: This hike is suitable for all age groups. The alp is open from May to October. We personally recommend autumn, the golden yellow colours of the countless larches are unique.

Uli & his team are our age. So in the best age ;-) That's why the young host is bubbling over with ideas. He organises "lively parties" throughout the season, which are best not to be missed ;-). How about an alpine brunch, a morning pint with DJs or Törggelen with live music. And are you ready?!
You can stay
Maybe some of you would like to spend the night in a rustic hut, including a "hut dinner". Yes, that's right, at the Eishof a delicious 3-course menu is served in the evening and breakfast is included. It makes you look forward to getting up...;-) And as luck would have it, the alpine pasture is located directly on the Merano High Mountain Trail, one of the most beautiful circular hiking trails in the Alpine region.
A true Lovestory
From Argentina back home. From globetrotter to mountain hut host. This is Uli, a very dear friend. But the unusual story does not end here... ;-) On his journey he met Annemarie and asked her if she would like to work spontaneously on his hut at the Eishof. The work became more ♥ and since the end of October 2022 there are even offspring.
